My new job!!

I was hired last week as an Activities Director Aide at Messenger House just up the road from me. I was hired part time but after a half day on Friday (first day), they asked me to come on full time!! So....I started today. 9:30 to 5:30. Full benefits...401 K, paid vacation etc.
Really happy about it. If it weren't so late, I would write more, but, I am exhausted. I run the 4 miles in to work and then get picked up after wards. I even have my own office!!! See below. It's a mess.
I get to help plan and run all the fun activities for the elderly. Just up my alley.

Rylans first baseball game of the season!

Rylan is on the AA Red Sox this year. I know...no CUBS for once! It's been a hard adjustment! :)
He played up this year, which means he is the youngest kid on his team by...2 years AND he's pitching this year!! Tonight was cold and it was hard for him, but, he did it and got a great hit.
Daddy didn't coach this year because he was supposed to leave for Alaska on Monday. Luckily it was postponed, because....dum dum dum....he was offered a job right up from our house at SAGE, to lead a crew. Great pay, benefits...etc. Anyways....back to my lil Rylan. Daddy is still helping out, which is the only reason Rylan is playing. He is still trying to overcome his shyness.
The game was at Hidden Cove, so I bundled up my little Mae girl and we walked the 2 miles there and back home. She talked the ENTIRE time. Love my lil chatterbox.
It was cold, but clear and beautiful outside. The sounds and smells of Spring are finally amongst us, even if the weather doesn't cooperate. We really enjoyed our walk...

BHS Talent Show!

Tonight was the second annual BHS talent show at the High School. Last year, Nathan performed a solo. He sang and played his guitar. This year, he just played his guitar.
I love this guy. It wasn't a song he wanted, and yet, he still went along with his best friend and his new friend, Katherine. She is such a sweet girl. :)
I was blown away by the talent this year. Music, sword fighting, acting, rapping, singing, violin playing, mandolin playing, jump ropers...etc. WOW.
I was entertained the whole time. Good job Nathan!!

Brennan

We are so excited that baseball season is FINALLY starting!! Myron and Brennan are on the same team. Brennan is now playing on three baseball teams. Phew. Good thing baseball is his life! I can't wait to watch him. The biggest news about Brennan is his braces!! He just got them last week and whoa howdy...does he have a mouth full of metal. Here's to hoping he doesn't take a ball to the face this year!

Rylans first book report

Rylans first book report is on "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." We just love this series. Brennan has every book and now that Rylan is reading, he is loving to read them. I hear giggles all night during reading time.
It has been fun to work on this book report with him. I need to start writing more posts about my sweet Rylan.
He is doing so awesome this year, in terms of his shyness. He is even playing baseball without Shane coaching! Now, if he would just let me come to his school EVER....that would be a major accomplishment.

Everything in the Garden!

This mama is OH so proud. Myron was asked at the last minute to act in this Island Theater play. Not only did he rise to the occasion....he was FANTASTIC!! What an amazing opportunity for him to act with real professionals. They all adored him.
It's all about the connections. Two directors from other theaters swooped in and picked him up for their upcoming plays. So, Rainbow Fish in April and now "On Golden Pond" in May.
Go Myron!!!!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

We never really celebrate this holiday, but, after having corned beef and cabbage at a friends last year, I decided it was time to try it. Of course, I told the kids we were having Haggis....instead. See below. Sheep tongue, heart, and liver chopped and stuffed inside a sheeps stomach. Um.....yum, right? Apparently not.
Can't wait to see their faces filled with relief when they see what we are really having for dinner. :)

Happy Birthday Myron!

Everytime I look at Myron, I see him at 5 years old. I'm sure he hates it when I say that, but, this little guy hasn't changed much since then. He is still the sweetest, kindest, most compassionate guy I know. He leaves me notes, he massages my shoulders and feet, he still kisses me good morning and good night. What a blessing he is in my life.
This year has been a big one for both of us. He started acting and has now found himself in two plays at once. One of the plays is with the Island Theater amongst some very talented adult actors. He is the only kid in the play and they requested him. WOW! He plays baseball and has a 3.4 in school. I am amazed by him.
His innocence about life is one of my favorite things about him. He always sees the good in everything. If anyone needs a friend, he is there. His brothers and sister adore him. He hardly ever gets in a tiff with them.
Oh my little mamanumas...this mommy adores you to no end!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

My little M's.....

Mae adores her brothers.....well except Rylan. She really REALLY loves her Myron. Myron was studying on my laptop on my bed and she had to be right next to him.
I am so thankful for these sweet brothers ( again except Rylan) that are so gentle and loving with her. AND fun....she's a lucky little girl.

Grandma and Grandpa come to town....

....and Shanes aunt Sue and Uncle Bob. Good times. We took them to Campanas in Poulsbo. An Italian restaurant I have been coming to for over 20 years. We had a great time and leisurely spent two hours at dinner.

Happy you came to see us Grandma and pa~

Where I get my dance moves....

Seattle day with Brennan

As of right now, moms quilt that you see hanging up above is now on my bed. I feel guilty sleeping under it, like it shouldn't be enjoyed, which is exactly how my mother felt, I am sure.
She loved it so much that she didn't want anything to happen to it. It feels as though it has never been washed. Anyhow, it was a neat experience going to pick it up. Another one of my mothers nurses was there and became teary eyed as she talked about her. She described my mother as elegant, and all about her family. She said I looked like her and had her same spirit.
What a compliment. I was happy that Brennan was with me to hear about his grandma.
Seattle is such a beautiful city. It had just snowed the night before, (YES, I know!!) and yet it was sunny and clear yesterday.

After we took Brennan to his orthodontist apt. (he got his spacers and next week gets the hardware), we popped on over to the Apple store in the University district to pick up my laptop which was fixed. Yay!
I had been stressed because last night was the once a month open mic night and my poems were on my laptop! We ended our trip to Seattle by digging through the Goodwill outlet bins. Found some definite treasures. I think Sandra is hooked.
