Teen moms group

So, im really excited about a group that I get to volunteer/mentor with, Teen Moms of Kitsap County, although we pick up two girls as far away as Port Townsend. This program was created two years ago and is a non denominational organization although, it is Christ centered and we get to deliver a sweet gospel message at each function.  We have 18 girls and just 5 leaders. The girls age out at 20 years old but many still come to the activities and stay connected. I was able to bring two girls that are like little sisters to me, Lizzie and Darlene. They live in Suquamish and go to the Native American Church that we attend. It was a lot of fun and I get to work with my friend and co mentor, Jillian Bateman. :) She organized a fun activity callled "Butt Charades" where we have to spell out the letters of the word with our...butts. Shes so fun and the girls adore her.
We did a foot spa too! Each month, the girls come to the church, there is free daycare while we enjoy a nice dinner, the activity, and the gospel message.  June 28-July 3, there is a camp for these mommies in Oregon with about 150 other teen moms from the West Coast. I was asked to go, and I am really wanting to, i have all the kids covered but my little Kellen. Josh has Tues and Wed. off of work but, the other days, Kels needs to be with someone until he gets home. Any takers?
I am really really happy....this fits my desire to work with young women and be a support to them. To lead by example and be more Christlike in my every day walk.

Love LOVE love....

Bellingham Visit!

Every year, Josh and I take turns on Valentines Day. This was my year. A bit belated, but, we took our new van on its first trip, to Bellingham to see my siblings and to look at houses.
Mae and Rylan had school so they had to stay, and the big boys werent too keen on coming on a romantic mini vacation.....Bellingham is one of my favorite places to visit but, as far as moving there, we just didnt feel the sense of community that we are looking for....
Rocket Doughnuts is one of our favorites....
We stayed at the brand new La Quinta Suites and had a suite to ourselves. I was very impressed with the customer service, full breakfast, and amazing pool/spa. Oh yeah, we brought Kellen.

My brothers, sisters and niece and nephew came to join in the fun.
My brother Eric and niece and nephew.

I HAD to stop at Hendersen books. Its my favorite book store. Each time I go, I buy vintage Raggedy Ann books. Two this time that I didnt have already!

We took a scenic drive down Chuckanut Bay Drive.

Above, my sister in law and little sister. Below, my little brother Greg, and Kells
I babysat for an hour while my sister in law went to the Dr. Alice screamed the ENTIRE time.

Another new favorite....a delicious hamburger joint right next to Mallards Ice cream. ELK burgers!
and the reason for the trip...........ROSE ice cream. Yum

6 months....seriously?

He's on the mend.....still coughing but, happy....this little man is just so amazing.....

I know....modesty.....BUT....look at his sweet hand on my wrist!!!

Sickness.....whooping cough....pneumonia

Myron brought home a present at Christmas time from his wrestling team...SICKNESS....
As we were driving to Montana, a fellow wrestling mama sent me an email stating that whooping cough had been confirmed in 5 fellow wrestlers. I promptly called his dr. and had a zpack prescribed. Unfortunately, the pharmacy closed before Shane got off work so.....it didnt get prescribed asap like it should have. I came home to a very sick Myron (not whooping cough) who then passed his lovely sickness onto more of our family. As soon as Myron was prescribed, Kitsap County Health Dept. got a hold of us and demanded that we all but put on antibiotics and to take Kellen into urgent care right away. Unfortunately....., Kellen got very very sick. Hospital sick.
He's home but, what a scare and now Shane is in the hospital......
People......VACCINATE your children!!!!  I dont want to hear about how vaccines cause autism and all the additives in them.....do you want to be responsible for a childs death? Did you know that Bainbridge Island has the largest out break in Kitsap County! Washington is listed as one of the largest outbreak states?? Oy! Vent over.....

Yes thats an IV!!! And yes....that is my closest friend and Kellens godmother, with him. I seriously could not be next to him when they put the IV in.

MONTANA and we're ENGAGED!

These photos are out of order….again
These are wings of an owl. My sweetheart belongs to the Native American Church and we use feathers for our fans, which we then pray with. The entire way home from Montana, Josh was on the lookout for feathers. We made several out of the way turns to go back and get said feathers…but thats another story. He had thought these were hawk feathers but, after showing them to an elder we learned they were owl. BUT……..
He DID find these red tail HAWK feathers and was over the moon excited. It was like Christmas!
This is him going to retrieve the tail feathers and lay tobacco down for the birds life. (like a prayer)
Since we are going BACK in time with this post…here is another cute place we stopped on our way home.
If ONLY this photo was more in focus….look at our jolly little elf!
 Oh Montana….

REAL jerky….we chose buffalo but have deer in our freezer that I plan on making jerky out of.

I couldn't stop taking photos of all the beautiful barns in Montana

It snowed SO much after we arrived. The most its snowed in 15 years!

We stayed at Joshs dads most of the time, outside Kalispell, but were able to drive four hours as a family, to see his grandma and aunt dorie that live in Big Sandy on a 4000+ acre farm that his family owns...

It was here….atop the infamous "Antelope Peak", on his families farm, that he asked me to marry him.
:)

Joshs family is Chechslavakian (spelling?) and his dad showed us all how to make Haluski, a family dish. Here is Mae helping make the little dumplings.

Great Grandma

Montanans..drive with GUNS

Joshs brother, below. He looks so much like Josh that Kellen was very happy to go to him.
Joshs dads house was so beautiful...

It was a wonderful trip and we have decided to move to Montana in April. :)….stay tuned
