New Zealand visitors

The minute these ladies entered the store I was in awe of them. Not just because the one is tattooed, but their accents are very enchanting. Have you ever heard an New Zealand accent?
It sounds like Australian and English all rolled into one. It is simply...beautiful. These women are attending an alternative medicine conference on the reservation. People from all over the world are just across the bridge from our Island learning about herbs and healing and chants etc.
I SO wish I could be there. Anyhow.....these sweet women sang me a song, or a prayer of sorts.
They allowed me to capture them on video. Enjoy!

Youth Talent Show

Yup, it happened again. It was a great night and I am always impressed by the talented kids in our ward. One kid in our ward, played the most amazing piano piece and he was just 13. We were all blown away. Myron and Liam did their yearly skit. This time it was from Napoleon Dynamite. Myron played Kip and obviously, Liam played Napoleon. If you watched the skit, you know how great they were. I really need to get Myron into acting. He is a natural, AND they only had a few hours to plan and prepare! I was rushing around trying to find a Napoleon wig at the last minute.
Nathan graced us with his amazing talent. I can't sing his praises enough. No lessons whatsoever.
He can just pick up an instrument (no...not a piano) and start playing. Drums, piano, trumpet, guitar.... I was so proud of him. I can't wait until he feels comfortable enough to start singing. He has an incredible voice. That with his beautiful poetry.....and.....CA CHING!

So that was last week. This week will hopefully be slow and boring because this weekend is a doozy. Brennan's select baseball team will be playing for three days in Issaquah while we leave Myron here to play on a newly put together soccer team. They have a tournament in Poulsbo all weekend. Luckily we are getting a hotel in Bellevue so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the pool in between. So......ta ta for now. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
I can't wait for 3 days of NO work!!

Seattle trip

We headed out to Seattle yesterday to get the boys fitted for their braces. Yes, it is a little out of the way, but we can't beat their payment plans on this side and he is a great orthodontist. That and it gives me an excuse to visit my favorite place in the world, Seattle.
We arrived early so we could scavenge Goodwill. I couldnt find the stinkin place! FINALLY, with minutes to spare, we arrived at the OUTLET store. NOT what we had in mind.
The entire huge warehouse room was filled with these huge bins that people were sorting through. Many of them were homeless and it was really sad.
We raced to the orthodontist and made it just in time. The view below is from 1-5 coming south.
Just beautiful.
We finally made it to the correct Goodwill on Dearborn and wow...it was gigantic.
I immediately felt overwhelmed and headed for the books.
At first sight of the ENORMOUS book section, I teared up a little. I was so excited.
Unfortunately, it was very picked through and I only found around 9 books worthy of my vintage childrens collection.
After finding a few cool tables and the books, we had worked up quite an appetite and headed to the International district for some good food. We found this amazing Malaysian restaurant.
Malay Satay. It was wonderful. The boys were great company.
On the menu? Frogs legs, baby squid, port intestines etc.
We settled on Malaysian Pad Thai and Ginger Chicken. Heavenly
I am really looking forward to these mini trips we will be taking on a regular basis and I think they are as well.
All it takes is a little trip to Seattle to remind me how much I love where I live.
Myron was completely tuckered out and fell asleep wearing his thrift store find. Liam and Myron will be performing a Napoleon Dynamite skit at the church talent show this evening. Can't wait!

Time for a new dog??

This is Macky. He is our friends lovable dog. I have always been a little annoyed by these little snorting creatures. They are neither cuddly or cute in my eyes....until........Macky.

I often wondered why in the world people were so captivated with them? Why so many pugs running around? Well, this little pug in particular has the most personality I have ever seen in any dog. It got me thinking....and thinking......and I'm still thinking on it.
Before all this. Monday being my day off and all....I headed to Sliverdale (as we nicknamed it).
I first took the kids to get their photos taken (it wasn't pretty). I bribed them with Chuck E Cheese. I ended up with 4 decent shots of them. The photographer tried selling me a 400.00 photo package. I just looked at her. I mean....she was there with me. Couldn't she see how badly the photos turned out? Mae scoffed, pouted, cried.....yadda yadda. Anyhow...I promised and we ended up at the most irritating place I could imagine for my day off.
The only ride Mae went on was this car thing that takes your picture. While I was playing air hockey with Rylan, she apparently kept feeding the car money because at the end of our game, I walked over and retrieved around 20 photos. Many with comprimising shots of me in the background playing air hockey in various "game positions".
OH.....AND I thrifted. BIG mistake with little ones, but I did end up with an extra vintage Care Bears set and about 15 Value Tales books to list to sell along with the other 50 or so I have.

Finally, the day ended with a baseball game and I have to add this hilarious video of sweet dowggy.....Macky.

Mothers Day Letter (Post 1 of 3)

You may need to click on the photo to be able to read the letter in it's entirety. It is a beautiful letter from Myron that might just be permanently affixed to my bedside note board.
I just love the special way that Myron writes. He truly is a sweet spirit from his heavenly father and I am so happy to get to be his mom.

Ps- I did a catch up of sorts and this is but one of three posts. Click "older post" down at the bottom to see the rest.

Island Living

What a beautiful week we have had. I love that we live just 2 miles from the best beach on the Island. The kids ride their bikes to and from the beach. This night pictured, Brennan, Rylan and I took a nice leisurely stroll back home. It was so warm and the yummy smells from flowers just blooming were all around us as we talked and walked, walked and talked all the way home.

We love this beach.

8th grade Culture Fair

Every 8th grader at Woodward Middle School is required to participate in the end of year Culture Fair. It is a large percentage of their grade and they work months on it. Nathan chose my Grandma Hardy. It was so neat to have him studying our genealogy books and learn more about her and her life. He worked very hard and it really showed.
It was very VERY crowded and I tried to take a shot of just how many people were there. After about 15 minutes, it was just too much and we left. This gym is where I held my big Christmas show. Being in such close proximity to other people reminded me why I wont be doing that again anytime soon.
Ps- Sorry nose picker.....I really needed this shot.
