While the boys are away.....

Well....the big boys at least. Mae and Rylan had fun in their respective boxes and Mae played dress up...
It was such a nice break from the constant loudness of summer...

Happy Birthday Mae!

I can't believe she is 4 years old!! The time just flew by. Mae is the most loving, kind, sweet, little girl I have ever met. She is everything I always dreamed a little girl would be.
I am one lucky mother. Of course MY present to her is wooden.
But which did she prefer? Ooooh....daddys present of Polly Pockets. Have mercy....
"What? I can put my fingers in the cake"?? She was already spaghetti'd up aka filthy from dinner so why not?
Happy Birthday princess. You are a joy...

Passion Project- 6th Grade

Surprise surprise....Brennan chose Los Angeles for his Passion project. Ever since we went to California the kids have been nonstop talking about it. They have chosen it for many school assignments/projects since our vacation! Brennan worked very hard on his and we brought in some authentic Californian food tonight. Mexican! When he asked me what kind of food to bring in, to represent California, and I answered Mexican, he looked hurt and said "Mom, that's pretty racist"...:) I had to smile and explain to him the whole "this land was their land" speech.
It was a great night with fun foods from around the world. Brennan is our third child to have Ms. Atkinson and I am sure not our last.

Fort Flagler

Despite being sick as a dog yesterday, we took off for Fort Flagler to celebrate the end of the baseball season (for now). Brennan brought his team mate and best friend, JP with us.
They had fun at the bunkers....even though they don't look too happy here.
The sun was in their eyes....
Nothing like forced photos!
The bunkers are so freaky at Fort Flagler. These you have to hike out to and my imagination was in overdrive. I could totally picture the ghosts of dead soldiers walking around.

Fun trip....

My All Star

I HAVE to brag!! I just have to have to HAVE TO.....to someone aka my blog.
Even though Brens team lost tonight, we were told by his coach that Brennan and one other kid in the league, have the HIGHEST batting averages in the LEAGUE!! That is amazing.
Why is that amazing? Because last year, he hardly got a hit. Seriously. Brennan is a gifted ball player. He pitches beautifully, catches wonderfully and is an amazing shortstop, BUT....last year (his first year of majors), he was afraid of the fast balls. This year... he has truly bloomed.
Since he was 5, he has played baseball. Brennan is to baseball what Nathan is to music.
He has been on the All Stars, select baseball teams and has just been recruited to play baseball for the elite Spartans, in the fall. I am so incredibly proud of this kid. He always has a wonderful attitude. He is always smiling and encouraging of his team mates and friends.
Many of his friends/ strangers etc. have bothered him about his teeth. He is such a strong and confident, young man, that it never really got him down. It irritated him more than anything.
Now that we have a gap between baseball teams, next week, he goes in to be fitted for his long awaited braces. I can't imagine him without the teeth he has. I love his smile. I love him.
I love that he is comfortable in his own skin and with who he is on the inside. But, I can't wait to see his new smile as well....I can't imagine it getting any bigger or brighter.
I love you my son....
You constantly amaze me....I could. not. be. prouder.

Girl trouble......

One night while at a church activity, Mae experienced the first ,of what will be many, girl squabbles. I don't really have to deal with this with the boys, so I am in new (almost) territory here. Mae went to play with her best friend and another little girl and they decided that they didn't want to play with her, for whatever reason. She was confused and upset. Keep in mind, she doesn't go to preschool, so her interactions with little girls her age are minimal. I know my little Mae. She can talk back to the best of em, so I have no doubt that she instigated said squabble, but...all the same, it was painful to watch her tearing up and telling me that kids were being mean to her. It reminded me of how truly bratty little girls can be. How can I prepare her for this? Prepare her to not be bratty herself? How??
Thoughts?

8th Grade Banquet

The boys got ready at Nonnys and she drove them to the banquet. I was the lucky duck that got to pick them up at 10 at night. Myron really wanted to wear a bow tie and suspenders. I was a little weary of his outfit choice, but boy, he looked smart. Just like he stepped out of a 50's spy movie.
Good thing because...the theme was Hollywood! Or HollyWOODWARD, actually. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. I will post photos later after I have hijacked them from facebook.
Myron had a great time. He is such a fun, happy, kid. It was neat to see these photos of him today with some of his friends.
I love each one of these girls photographed below. I know Myron does too. Wink wink.
Myron and Nathans best friend David. David is like another son to me. This is definitely a photo that is going to get framed.
He had a great night, full of wonderful memories and I was happy to see , when I picked him up, that he was right in the middle of the dancing, sweating and laughing. That's my boy!
