The Missy Mae Show........and now a word from our sponsors!

Sometimes I just sit and watch may......ok ALL the time I am watching Mae. This age is so fun. You just see their little minds figuring things out and they are full of wonder. Mae happens to LOVE talking (sounds a little like her mom). She talks talks talks, to herself most of all. Especially when she is looking at books. I just have to share these two videos. One is from the car ride home and the other is from just now.

I should be cleaning, I started well. The idea was to spring clean and the house is a tornado as I am trying to organize everything. Notice I said......idea. After an hour of disheveling the house, wouldn't you know it, these two little buggers distracted me. I love the games they/Rylan come up with.
Mae is just happy to play along even if that includes being wrapped in a blanket head to toe and being dragged around the house. Yes, she is wearing her brothers socks. She just loves to play dress up.

Baseball........of course!

I can't wait until Nathans game tomorrow night to get some good photos. I feel like he has been left out of the blog loop lately. Look at this gorgeous guy.
Mae was so sweet tonight, stopping every 3 seconds or so to pick up a flower/rock/stick/caterpillar looking tree thing.
Brennans game was great. I would have been able to watch it all, but I was on a mission. The electronic scoreboard was not up and running due to a key that happened to be with Myrons coach at Battlepoint during their practice. I drove over there to retrieve the key, only to find out that someone had broken a key off in the lock. Later on (halfway through the game and after missing Brennans double) we found another way in. I spent the last half announcing and keeping score of the game. It was nice to have a couple of little girls watch Mae for 2 dollars while I focused. What fun to sit up in "Ed's shed" and watch the game. I was nostalgic considering my dad is "Ed". It was a great game and we were in the lead for most of the game. The team we were playing scored 3 runs in the last inning and luckily we won 10-9. We are the team to beat and it feels good.

My friend Shannon (or her daughter Cera) took the best photo of Myron. They had a rough game tonight and lost 14-9. I just adore this photo and adore our coaches and wives of the coaches. Myron has always been an all star player and this year, it has been difficult for him to focus. I think it will humble him. He has the best coaches and I hope that they can see what we see, a sweet boy that has such a deep love of the game. His focus may be off, but boy can this kid run. He scored a point for the team tonight and gave me loves and kisses despite the jeers from his team mates. No matter how small, this guy makes up for it with team spirit and sweetness.

Easter bunny revealed........Rylan!?

Easter is never the same twice at our house. I have always detested the commercialism of holidays and this one is no different. I mean come on.......an Easter bunny? My kids have never believed in it. Am I a grinch? They haven't seemed to mind. Well........in comes Mae. She ADORES bunnies. Just loves loves loves them. That and she is a pleasure to give things to. She gets so excited. When I grew up, Easter meant a new dress and a basket full of candy and presents. Last year, I gave the kids each a pot and a packet of seeds to celebrate spring, rebirth. Did they ever plant said seeds? Well our new plan this year was to let Rylan play the Easter Bunny. He painted all the eggs himself, filled the baskets and even did a little hopping around.
I couldn't exclude a book for each child. I am afterall "me".


On to the most special part of our day today. Myron and best friend Liam were ordained into the Aaronic Priesthood today at church. These two boys have the sweetest spirits and are such great examples to each other. Myron waited a whole month for Liam to turn 12 so that they could receive it together. Dads gave beautiful blessings and moms each teared respectively.
You can just feel their sweet spirits by just looking at their smiles. I wish I had some photos of them from 6 years ago. I'll have to dig around and upload later. I can't help but think of the song "This little light of mine" when I think about Myron.
After church and a nice nap, we headed over to our good friends house for Easter dinner.
It is always a good time when we spend time together. We have been good friends for many years and they (among many other families here) have become our family.
Dax organized an egg hunt downstairs for the kids.
It was a great day and I am happy to have some quiet time to ponder what today is truly about.

Take me out to the ball game

What a day! It all started out with the baseball Jamboree. It was cold, but not raining, which was great. Mae was the boys little cheerleader today and actually kept her pigtails in the entire time! As soon as we got into the car though, it was another story.

The 12 year olds were honored with a medal because it is their last year in little league.

The T-ballers were too sweet as they ran the bases. The 12 year olds stood in a line and gave them low fives as they ran by.

If only Brennan had gotten on the AAA Cubs team, we would have had all been Cubs (minus Nathan, but he is in the older league now)


After the jamboree, we headed over to the waterfront park Easter egg hunt. There wasn't much left by the time we got there. FYI, we were there about 1 minute after they sounded the horn.
Brennan had fun in the 9-12 year old area though. We had great timing. Nathan was arriving home within a half an hour (early) and so we podunked around Winslow until he arrived.
We hit the library book sale and the high school rummage sale and picked up some amazing finds, including a vintage bunkbed set, some vintage lamps and a bike for Brennan.
After all of that and picking up Nathan, we headed home for lunch and a quick nap for Mae, Ry and me. Myron was already at a friends from his team, so no worries about getting him to the fields early, but Nathan and Shane still had to head out around 2:40 for Nathans game (up the road from Myrons). I got to stay behind and Bren rode his bike to the fields up from our house. I met him at 5 for his game. I was blown away. I couldn't believe how amazing of a pitcher he was. 1,2, 3 outs! He also played catch and hit a double. Way to go Brennan! After the game, it was off to Myrons. They didn't do so well. 18-9. I think it is humbling for Myron who has always been on the team that has gone to the finals (except last year, by one game) 5 years in a row. Nathans team did very well and their final score was 18-5. Nathan scored a single and a run. He is playing with kids ages 12-18 so this is great for him!
Tomorrow is Easter, so I will save some words for tomorrow. Happy Easter everyone.

Blake Island scout campout

There is a little Island a few miles from our Island that you can only get to by boat. Countless camping adventures have and will always take place here. My brothers have grown up visiting there and now my own boys. Today, Nathan and his friend Zack are among a group of scouts camping out on Blake Island tonight. Nathan was so excited to go and I was lucky to snap some great shots before they left. I really wished that I could trade places with him as he waved goodbye from the boat. What a great adventure.
After dropping the boys off, we headed to the ball fields to help rake and prep them for tomorrows games. Then, off to the sports store to buy last minute baseball gear.
Tomorrow is the big jamboree and the first day of games. We are so excited!
